Generations United The mission of Generations United is to improve the lives of children, youth, and older adults through intergenerational collaboration, public policies and programs for the enduring benefit of all. In addition to hosting a biennial intergenerational conference, Generations United also develops policy briefs, and research as well as providing technical assistance on a range of topics including intergenerational programming and grandfamilies.
Penn State Extension Intergenerational Program The primary goal of the Intergenerational Program is to provide leadership and resource support for organizations —within Pennsylvania and beyond— interested in establishing intergenerational programs that enrich people's lives and help address vital social and community issues. Their website includes a collection of activities for educators, human and community service professionals, and families interested in facilitating intergenerational understanding and cooperation.
The Centre for Intergenerational Practice Located in the UK, the Centre aims to support the development and promotion of intergenerational practice as a strategy for social change. The Centre provides a platform in the UK for the development of intergenerational practice by supporting local networks, influencing policy makers, conducting events, gathering evidence about the benefits of intergenerational practice, evaluating the impact of intergenerational programs, and fostering international links.
The Journal of Intergenerational Relationships is a forum for scholars, practitioners, policy makers, educators, and advocates to stay abreast of the latest intergenerational research, practice methods and policy initiatives. This is the only journal focusing on the intergenerational field integrating practical, theoretical, empirical, familial, and policy perspectives.
Planning Across Generations This Resource of Cornell University College of Architecture, Art and Planning gives practicing planners the background and tools they need to implement family friendly initiatives. Multi-generational planning is based on inclusive design shared services, and a common vision to meet the needs of all residents.
Generations of Hope Generations of Hope is a unique program that changes the lives of foster children, retirees, and families by enabling them to create their own neighborhood and forge their own network of caring relationships. At the heart of this community, Hope Meadows, is a sense of shared purpose and values. Hope Meadows is an innovative residential community – a five-block small-town neighborhood where children adopted from foster care find permanent and loving homes, as well as grandparents, playmates and an entire neighborhood designed to help them grow up in a secure and nurturing environment.
University of Southern Alabama: Dr. Roma Stovall Hanks Dr. Hanks has organized regional mini-conferences on intergenerational service-learning in three states. In 2001, she coordinated regional participation (teleconference and on-site) with former Vice-President Al Gore's class on community development at Middle Tennessee State University. She served in 2000-2003 as Southern Regional Coordinator for Intergenerational Service-Learning in Gerontology.
Virginia Tech Intergenerational Programs Dr. Jarrott, Director of intergenerational programs, focuses her research on intergenerational strategies to meet community needs, including shared site care programs (e.g., co-located adult and child care centers), staff development, and student training. She teaches courses on adult development, community services, and intergenerational programming, and leads study abroad courses focusing on lifespan community services. Dr. Jarrott also provides local and international consultation, training, and program evaluation for intergenerational and community programs.
