Director, Project SHINE

Patience Lehrman is the Program Director of Project SHINE, an immigrant integration initiative at the Intergenerational Center that facilitates successful integration of immigrants and refugees through language and education, health and well-being, citizenship and civic participation, and social and cultural interaction with students and volunteers.  Project SHINE partners with 18 institutions of higher learning across the country and engages a broad and diverse group of college students and older adults to provide a wide range of services in immigrant communities.

 

Mrs. Lehrman is a first generation immigrant from Cameroon, West Africa and speaks several languages including French.  She has over ten years of experience as a leader in community service, workforce development and outreach to immigrants, low-income adults and youths from diverse backgrounds. Mrs. Lehrman has worked with businesses of all sizes, and conducted presentations across the country sharing information about the practical steps and economic benefits of engaging foreign-born nationals, and weaving them into the fabric of our communities.

 

She holds a dual Master’s degree in Education and Organizational Development from Temple University, a Professional Human Resource Certification from Villanova University and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at the Fox School of Business, Temple University.
