Hitomi Yoshida
Hitomi Yoshida is the Project Manager and Research Associate of Project SHINE. She conducts community-based needs assessments with immigrant and refugee communities and has co-authored two reports, Community Treasures: Recognizing the Contributions Older Immigrants and Refugees and Patient Listening: Health Communication Needs of Older Immigrants.
Previously at the center, she managed the SHINE Health Literacy Initiative to foster partnerships between ethnic community-based organizations and faculty and students in health professions. In her experience as a qualitative researcher at Research for Action, Hitomi utilized a collaborative approach to investigate urban education policies and programs. Her work has also involved advising English as a Second Language students and facilitating cross-cultural training at universities.
Hitomi received her M.S. Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania.
