Tutors

Grandma's Kids Program is looking for volunteers and Pennsylvania (PHEAA) work-study students to tutor elementary aged children in three public schools. Students will work either one on one or in a small group assisting with home work and class projects after school. Students are required to travel to assigned school on a weekly basis, tutor for a minimum of ten hours a week, and have a positive and engaged attitude toward working with a risk youth. Candidates will be supervised by the on site After School Coordinator and the Program Educational Coordinator. After School program operation hours are 3:00 to 5:30 pm. Candidates must be able to tutor during program hours.  

 

Part-time Staff

  • After-School Coordinator
    The part-time After School Coordinator reports to the Grandma's Kids Project Coordinator. The After School Coordinator conducts and oversees a five-day a week school program involving tutorial, life skills training, and counseling of K-8 students being raised by alternative caregivers. Responsibilities include supervising the delivery of after-school components, monitoring children's behavior, providing feedback to the Project Coordinator and therapists regarding each child's behavior, maintaining individual records on each child. After School Coordinator must also call caregivers monthly and report all contacts via database and hard copy for child's chart, attend all departmental and staff meetings, program trips, submit calendars, student attendance, staff time sheets, lesson plans, provide incident reports and attend the registration event at the beginning of the program year. Perform other duties as assigned. This is a 10 month program open primarily during the Philadelphia School District Year. Pay is not available during July and August.  I

     
  • Assistant Coordinator

    Assist an After School Coordinator in the management of an after school program involving assisting with homework, life skills lessons , snacks and classroom management of elementary school students being raised by alternative caregivers.  This is a part-time position that will require up to 14 hours per week.
